Neck pain is one pain that many people have to at least once in their life. Pain in the upper back and neck can be caused by a vehicle accident, a hit on the head, or just simply being stressed out. There are many treatments that can help with the pain and they should be discussed with a doctor before attempting to do them.

Pains in the neck and jaws can often mean a serious medical condition. Neck, jaw and upper back pain and pressure can often be signs of heart problems in woman. This needs to be taken seriously by both the doctor and patient. Further tests should be performed to rule out any potentially deadly condition in the heart or blood vessels that surround the heart.

One of the most common ways some end up with neck problems is in a car accident. The violent jolt that is commonly caused by someone hitting the back of another vehicle can often cause what is known as whip lash. This condition can be very painful and can often last for weeks.

In some accidents, the neck injuries are so severe; the patient may never recover from the spinal damage. This often leaves the patient paralyzed because of the damage to the spinal column or broken bones in the vertebrae in the neck area. Many that have severe damage may never be able to walk or talk again. Some are very aware of their surroundings but are unable to verbally communicate with others.

The deterioration of the neck bones can cause severe pain in the neck region. Arthritis is often the common reason that bones lose the cushion in between them, often causing the bones to rub. This is very common in the neck because throughout our lives, we are constantly moving our head, causing friction in the neck bones.

A pain that is caused from muscle tightness is the easiest one to treat. Stress can cause the neck to tense up, causing pain in the area and sometimes severe tension headaches. This is easily treated by a prescription from the doctor for a pain reliever mixed with a muscle relaxor. Talk to your doctor about controlling the pain in head and neck because of tension and stress.

There are a few serious reasons that pain can be radiating in the neck or face. To get a thorough check up, it is recommended that you see a doctor. Some of the situations that cause the pain can be quite serious and require immediate medical attention.
