CTRL key functions are straightforward and easy to use. Fore example, you can save a lot of clicks by using CTRL+C to copy an item to the clipboard, and then CTRL+V to paste it somewhere else.

The Alt keys are similar to the CTRL keys in that they are combined with other keys to bring about an action. They are frequently combined with non letters and are particularly useful in windows. It is easy to switch between windows by clicking Alt and then Tab immediately after it. There is even a powerful combination of CTRL+Alt+Delete to open the task manager and stop programs that have become unresponsive.

In addition to these keys that have always been on the keyboard, Windows added its own key to the shortcuts. The Windows key is a useful key that like the function key works alone, or like the CTRL and Alt keys can be partnered with other keys. Pressing the Windows key will launch the Start menu, while simple combinations such as Windows+D will show the desktop.

Windows by design is already easy to use. When Shortcut keys are added to it, its also a lot quicker. Just like Windows, the shortcuts are simple to learn and memorize. Learning a few of them will help you get the most out of your windows software.
